Springtime in Houston, Texas

The city of Houston is beautiful in the spring and the perfect time to get outside and explore just what it has to offer. The eccentric city hosts an array of fun festivals, quirky parades, and blooming gardens for both visitors and residents alike to enjoy.

You cannot visit an area along the Gulf without sampling some of its bounty. Depending on if you have access to transportation, the first of many crawfish festivals worth checking out is the Texas Crawfish Music Festival in Old Town Spring, Texas, just a little north of the city. The festival runs from April 25th through May 4th and combines local cuisine and live music.

Another great festival centered around native crawfish, is the Pearland Crawfish Festival. This festival runs from April 4th through April 6th and has everything from carnival rides to any kind of Cajun food you can imagine.

Parades are taken very seriously in the south, and with New Orleans being just a stone’s throw away; you can imagine Houston knows how to celebrate Mardi Gras right. The Tremont House, a beautiful hotel located in neighboring Galveston, hosts a Mardi Gras party every year. On March 1st, they are throwing a “Pearls And Prohibition” themed party, where guests are can dance the night away live retro-swing band all while peering out at the city’s parade going on down in the street below.  Speaking of parades, Houston is known for its unique art, and the Art Car Parade is testament to that. Happening on May 10th, onlookers will witness hundreds of cars from all over the country, turned into canvases to some of the most unbelievable artwork.

There are few things more reminiscent of Texas that the image of a cowboy on a bucking bronco. Houston Livestock show and rodeo brings to life these cowboys. In addition to that, the livestock show is quite a sight. Think portly pigs, cows with horns that span longer than the width of a grown man’s arms, bearded goats, and gobbling turkeys.  The show season runs from March 4th-23rd.

Springtime means breathing in the recently warmer air and enjoying everything in bloom. Houston’s Azalea Trail is the perfect place to feast eyes on budding blooms. The trail is spread out over multiple antique homes in the Houston area and goes on March 7th-9th.

Houston, and Texas as a whole, knows one thing really well and that’s how to celebrate their culture, appreciate the sunshine, and have a great time doing it. You savor the season and our traditions most easily by staying at our Houston corporate housing or Woodlands corporate apartments!
